I spent this evening taking a good look over the site and have discovered
U can learn anything on D70users!!

The knowledge and input of members on this site is unbelievable. I am still a new user and D70 owner and return here everytime I have a problem or question my manual cannot answer. I don't mean to say the manual cannot answer it, it's just that human input (real plp speaking english in real terms, experiencing the same problems as you) can answer all of your questions here. Thanks to all of you!

That being said prepare yourselve's for many more of my stupid questions!!

Yeah - I can't even work out what a flolop is - even allowing for strange typing misteaks!

Mattresses like Zem flolop around. Apparently I should learn.

Perhaps you should learn about a Tertiary phase, gentlemen.

Leigh, I find that flolloping is made easier if you can find an appropriate swamp. If you get lucky there might be a mattress around that can teach the finer points. Hope this helps.

I don't think it will help, but the effort is appreciated. :)

OT, but talking of flolops (whatever they are) did anyone hear the interview with the director of THGTTG movie on JJJ this morning? Was quite interesting - leads me to believe the movie won't be TOO disappointing.

Peter,

Leigh, Michael (Sycamore 2) and I went to a presentation last Thursday evening on the upcoming movie. The talk was given by the movie's executive producer, and accompanied by a number of sequences of scenes either from the movie, or from behind the scenes.

Great stuff, and he went into great detail about how much effort they'd put into trying to stay true to Adams's ideals and concepts.

From what we've seen thus far, it looks to be very good and a whole lot of fun.

Sounds good Gary...
I have been a little worried about it... worried that it would be (sorry) Americanized...

After a little research:

In Life, the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams, mattresses are "...large, friendly, pocket-sprung creatures which live quiet private lives in the marshes of Squornshellous Zeta. Many of them get caught, slaughtered, dried out, shipped out, and slept on. None of them seem to mind and all of them are called Zem."

and

thehitchhiker'sguidetothegalaxy
the guide is a five book trilogy written by Douglas Adams. If you've read it, good for you, if you haven't, you should. Trust me, it's good. There is wonderous and squishy web site you should go to for wacky information on everything called http://www.h2g2.com. Live by it.

If are wondering what the heck this "Voon" thing is all about, it's a quote from the thiird book in the trilogy, "life, the Universe, and everything". It is said by Zem, a mattress, who lives in the vast swamps of Squornshellous Zeta. The exact qoute, punctuation and all, is: "Voon," said the mattress.

Zem is awesome.

You're not the only one.

I can tell you that the executive producer was a pom, as was the directorial team.

Adams made it well known that the character of Arthur Dent must be played by a pom, and that, too is the case.

What we saw went a looooooonnnnnnnnnnng way towards satisfying me in this regard. Of course, in total, we probably saw maybe less than 5 minutes of footage, and that's a long way from being the whole movie, but suffice to say that Sycamore 1 and I are somewhat interested in wandering along to see it on opening day; is there any other interest in this ??

Reminds me of Something Awful, where "Originally posted by Username:" is replaced by "Username came out of the closet to say:" and "Last edited by Username at Date/Time." becomes "Username f*cked around with this message at Date/Time.".
