Back to Olympus, sort of.

It's been over 6 months since I purchased a new camera. With a trip to Noo Zooland coming up next week I thought it was time to take advantage of the GST refund before it all goes, which I think is only a matter of time.
I sold my X10, X100, (Fuji 18-55 is up for sale if anyone is interested) and put the proceeds into an old/new friend, the Olympus E-M1, together with the new 12-40 F2.8 pro lens. I got a great deal from Ted's, plus a free $150 Manfrotto tripod, plus free Manfrotto head, plus free Samsonite luggage (by redemption from Olympus). The latter stuff will be ebayed. Eventual cost for E-M1/12-40 combo should be around $1600 which I think is a pretty good deal.
I plan to use the E-M1 for photographing the grandkids as the focussing is blisteringly fast. The frame rate is 10fps for 51raw images. I have no idea how many jpgs can be recorded in a sequence, but the thing is a machine gun.
The X-Pro1/35mm will be the portrait go-to for it's (only slightly) better IQ.
After shooting the E-M1 combo in the Canberra region for the last few days, I am seriously impressed.
Quick shot late this evening in Bungendore, NSW.
