I do too! I also like the picture of the shipwreck published in this forum sometime ago much better. But, when you visit a foreign country with a time schedule you don't have the luxury of picking the best time of the day or weather.

I hear your point about the luxury or time/conditions but if it is not of the usual standard then I would simply cull them out or keep them for my own private collection. I have a few of that shipwreck, as do others.

no excuse in my opinion, your there purely from an art point of view, if you had three kids to chase after then i would excuse you..

at the end of the day a good photography will produce compelling and interesting photography irrespective of the conditions.
