Battery Chargers...

Postby Aussie Dave on Thu Apr 07, 2005 9:07 pm

Hi all,
I'm currently looking at purchasing the Energizer Ultra Fast Battery Charger, that comes with 4 x 2500mah batteries.

Does anyone have one of these chargers and, if so, are you happy with it ?

Can anyone suggest any better alternatives, or is the difference between brands negligable ??

Onyx, is the expert but he suggested a pulse charger, tops the batteries to more of their potential. He suggested the Maha unit, I found it difficult to get in Aus. Went to Jaycar and bought their pulse unit for $99, seems much better than the basic unit I had before. The batteries seem to last longer, used to get 4 weeks in my mouse, now 5-6 weeks, though that is a low load device so don't know the difference on a high drain device.

I am using the Maha ones, they are great. You can get them from a NZ company.

Vince, when I had a look they had a special on but were two models behind the ones in the states. Still could be ahead of the Jaycar ones though.

Your batteries' capacity will only ever be optimised by a good charger. No point spending up on 2500mAh cells (or 2800mAh as I saw the other day) if you skimp on your charger.

"Nickel-metal-hydride should be rapid charged rather than slow charged."
According to The Experts.

But then the caveat: "Lower-priced chargers may not apply a fully saturated charge. Some will indicate full-charge immediately after a voltage or temperature peak is reached. These chargers are commonly sold on the merit of short charge time and moderate price."
