Does anybody out there know if it is possible to buy in Aus the likes of the Nikon DR-6, Newton flash units - it would seem that in most instances one does have to go offshore for the more estoteric items. I have just purchased an SC-29 from Newcastle (through Ebay) but it seems that it is not from Newcastle at all but from either Hong Kong or China!!!

You may PM Onyx, ask him to check with B&H or Adorama, or you may check and PM him with a link, he'll return to Australia mid-October, he might be help you out.

Thanks Birddog

I suppose what I was really trying to say is why is it that Australia lacks the bibs and bobs that the rest of the world can get.

That why people always do the shopping overseas and our monies gone offshore.

here's another:

We have an account with Kayell NSW, they're reseller of Gitzo tripod, I emailed and checked its price, a replied email from Kayell NSW:
"HI THAN

AS YOU KNOW ROB IS AWAY AND HE HAS ASKED ME TO REPLY TO YOU.

AT PHOTOKINA, NEW MODELS OF SPYDER WERE ANNOUNCED. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING OUR PRICELIST AND WILL FORWARD YOU A COPY NEXT WEEK.

WE CAN SUPPLY THE GITZO G1325 CARBON FIBRE TRIPOD - $1336.00 + TAX

REGARDS

SURESH"
I can buy Gitzo from RRS or B&H for US$507 = AU$714.00 with today rate
if I want it shipped to Australia, it'll cost around AU$850.00/ GST Inc.
The price we pay here is nearly double, which way do people like to buy their toy?
Your answer!!!!

Yo Birddog

Yep - I can’t agree more. I have dealt with Kayell from way back - my D1 came from them.

There has never been any leeway with Rob or Theo - bought my Bowens Trilites through them - cost a fortune ($1400 for 2 lights) no help on price even though they did nothing but order them from CR Kennedy as I could not go direct

Overseas, no questions, no problems, just a damn good price, normally, and that’s what it is all about.

Bought my D70 from JDOnline - why - because a D70 is a D70 is a D70 and they had the best price at the time.

The saving of $$$$ today by buying from overseas can be compensated to any failure that it might be happened. I save my buck by doing this way

Look at the cheap fashion shoes:
You can buy 4 pairs of shoe made from China instead of one Pair of Nike shoe (also make in China), you can throw the cheap pair of shoe in the bin without any regret, and you always wear the new shoe.

I received my SC-29 this morning - bought in Aus for $127 inc postage.

The box states Made in China - so what price the actual production on this unit? My own dealings with manufacturers in China would lead me to believe that the actual production cost would be less that $10US!

Oh how I wish that I was a rich man living in China!
