Hey Mic,

It's Woody here (just at dad's place so using his logon).

From what I can work out a Blog is like a Web Log, you can use it basically however you want, like a diary.

There seems to be lot's of free stuff around forthem, templates etc... but it seems you need to still know a little about coding. You do also still need to host the site somewhere (so I guess it is pretty much another term for your own website).

There is something free from google, Picaso 2 I think... This allows you to upload files via some hello software... Not 100% how this all works as I still have to play around with it.

Hopefully someone else will come on with more info as I really like the idea and love the look of some of the sites.

Chromasia is one of my favourites at the moment... That guy is a master at both photography and post processing. There are heaps of other great sites out there if you look at photoblogs.org. Another great one (Australian even) is http://blog.jinkyart.com.au/

As for setting one up yourself, check this link: http://www.photoblogs.org/help/ - they have lists of hosting options or software to do it yourself.

I use blogger.com for my blog, but I host it on my webhost, rather than at blogger.com's site.

I've also integrated it into my website completely. My photogalleries also use blogger.com integrated into my site so I have very little work to do in order to get get new galleries on line.

It took a lot of work to get the templates within blogger.com to be fully integrated with my site, and you do need to know a bit of HTML to do something like i've done, but it's doable.

Blogging seems to be one of the more powerful means of expression via the internet. The Washington Post is beginning to use some of the more prominent blogs as official sources, and it was a blog that uncovered the fradulent story defaming President Bush, anchored by Dan Rather (I think?).

I believe Yahoo is incorporating blogging so that anyone can do it. They just purchased Flickr and I imagine that Flickr's blogging capabiblities is one of the things that they're after.

I too am a blogger!!! We have been using it to keep in touch with family who live interstate. It is a great way to keep each other up to date with the kids.
As others have said the best place to see some really good photoblogs is at http://www.photoblogs.org/. I also find that some of these sites give you inspiration for photo shoots.
