A few people seem to be having issues. Just wondering what the percentages are.

Excluding accidents.

hehe - you need another multi-choice answer Greg

: Don't have a D70 yet and worried about reliability

Otherwise, I can't vote

Cheers

Yep, "Err" once. Appearred approx 12k shutter actuations. Snapped 600 more pics so far with no further incident.

I've gotten it wet several occasions with no ill effect. Once at a drinking fountain, with the water dripping down onto the camera body, another time shooting the fountains at Star City casino when a gust of wind blew misty chlorinated spray all over. It stripped the coating off my Hoya skylight filter, which was subsequently replaced. Wiped the body down, all is fine. Also more recently, it was exposed to massive water spray at the base of a large waterfall (Niagra Falls). Like a 10 litre bucket tipped from above your head wet... I know the D70 isn't marketted as "professional" or "weather sealed" but I was never worried cos I was confident of its contruction quality and knew it would survive. Turned it off, got a t-shirt out to dry myself and the camera... started shooting again.

Incidently, I wonder if I'm ever gunna sell this D70 in future when I've admitted to the abuse this camera has endured in my hands. ;)

I brought my D70 back to Maxwell in late Mar. this year with its odometer is around 5K:
1/ the LCD was very blur, could not read/ see anything on it.
2/ The meter was not working properly in whatever mode (A/P/M)
Giving me over exposure all the time even at P.
3/ Battery indicator showed unreal status of battery (Full charged but only showed half)

Results:
- New LCD replaced
- Calibrated meter or replaced some parts (unclear)
- Repaced of one of its ECB.
- Cleaned CCD

Total bill: $580.00 including GST/ Warranty covered and 7 days in Maxwell workshop. it's now healthy, got nearly 10K and on loan to one of Charity Organizations for them to do some documentary works.
