Those are great shots!
I was at Point Cook taking photos of an aerial display as the front passed over. It was like a bomb as the wind and rain hit us.
The pilot doing the display thought he would have time to complete the display before the front came across... he was wrong. He did his best to maintain a straight flight path but the wind was simply too strong. During the landing he had the plane in a hover and it came in like a helicopter. The poor guy in the little Tigermoth that took off 2 minutes earlier didn't even make it back to the airfield. Turns out he had to try and outrun the storm making an emergency landing at Moorabin to wait it out.
The wind sweeping across the airfield was so strong that it created an enormous dust funnel. I didn't get a shot of this since I was busy trying to dodge the bucket size raindrops!
Although we knew it was coming the strength of the storm had taken everyone by surprise
