Bolty BridgeI know Platinumweaver posted once about how you could go about shooting from the Bolty Bridge without getting caught, and I was trying to refind that thread. The other morning when I went over it for work at about 6.25am the city looked spectacular. The horizon was glowing orange/peach as sunrise was only about 20-30 minutes away. There were hints of blue and black in the sky and the reflections in the docklands water of the city looked brilliant. However nowhere to stop and take photos - wish they'd have walking areas on these bridges. But no, because a few people with psycological issues decide to kill themselves the rest of us have to suffer. Anyway today I thought what about using a 4WD with a window mounted tripod. You could pull up quickly take your shots, be it wide angle or portrait pano, and then clear off. The window ledge mounted tripod means no getting out of the car and stuffing around with a tripod, the 4WD should give you enough vertical reach over the concrete barriers. I reckon you could be done in < 2-3minutes.

I saw one of those Window mounted tripods in Kruger. Some pro shooter had been going around for a few days.. shooting with a Nikon of course.. looked like a great idea!
The other possibility is we just call up and pretend we're Ken Duncan... PlatinumWeaver / Dean

You could go on the Great Melbourne Bike ride and lug the camera along They have to ride over the West gate (but on the side heading towards Geelong), where you could stop at the top to take a breather, whip out the camera and take a few photos before continuing on.
Also.. and I don't think i'm the only person thinking of this...
You have to ride up to, and over the bridge! PlatinumWeaver / Dean
