D70 Camera Raw Plug-In problem in Photoshop CS

Postby Alberto Ezzy on Mon Oct 11, 2004 4:17 am

Whenever I open a RAW (NEF) file from my Nikon D70 into Photoshop CS (Mac OS 10.3) I don't get the expected Camera Raw interface (that everyone is so excited about...), but a small window called 'RAW adjustments' that only lets me adjust 'exposure' and 'white balance' and shows me a thumbnail of my image.

I do have the latest Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in 2.3 installed. I also have Nikon Capture 4.1 installed but I had this problem even before I installed the Nikon software.

I know I have pretty much all the same features in Nikon Capture than in the Camera Raw interface but nevertheless I want this plugin to work properly because of the colored histogram you get and some other features ...

You will find that the correct RAW interface appears if you convert the NEF to the new Adobe DNG - otherwise exactly as you have stated.

To get Adobe RAW interface to appear go to where your PS is installed, eg C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\File Formats and remove "Nikon NEF Plugin"
