DMCA Prevents Photoshop Support of Nikon Camera

I know it is for the D2 camera range but why can't Nikon just allow RAW to be RAW with no editing software hurdles - I guess the hurdle being their capture software ?
Call me green - why is this happening - why can't we just get along
