I know I've seen somewhere on the forum in the past about this but searching has proved unsuccesfull.
I would like to try a clear stick on cover for my LCD and have seen a
supplier mentioned here before but can't find them. Anyone know?
Also while I'm at it anyone using this sort of thing have an opinion on the idea.

Hi Greolt,
congrats on MEMBER status !
I have read that some people use clear covers that are made for palm pilots etc... and just cut them to size. I have seen them for about $20 for a pack or three (you might be able to get 2 per sheet, not sure).
I personally don't mind the LCD cover that comes with the D70, but didnt like the "clear" look so I painted mine black. Now it just looks like part of the camera.

Doesn't that make hard to see the LCD?

you'd think so....but if you overexpose all your shots by 2 stops, the pics shows up thru the black paint. Unfortunately, it's hard to see the shadow areas though....

I went ahead and ordered from Purplemoo (great name).
You get four stick on covers plus postage for $12.95AU
The Softconnect ones are a reusable type and cost $17.95AU delivered for one.
I wasn't too sure about these as all I can imagine is the "L" plates my kids
used that "stick" to the windsreen. Rather heavier I'm guessing. And may
not stay on as well when shoved in and out of a camera bag.
Any way I will report when I get them.

The ones I got were from the CX Computer Superstore: called the "Premium Screen Protector Multipack"and cost $21 for about 20. As these are not sized for the D70 I created an outline template for the D70 screen in EPS format and simply printed it out, taped it over the top of one of the protectors and cut it out. It took me a couple of goes to get the hang of applying it to the screen without leaving any bubbles but works like a dream and I haven't had to replace one yet.
If anyone would like a copy of the EPS file just email me and I'll send it to you: let me know whether you need it for Mac or PC.

fozzie,
I think you can do the mass production of your style "LCD Cover" for the D70 and marketing it thru many forums or eBay.

Have you done one too, Fozzie?
I've updated mine to PDF format and am happy to send to anyone if you pm me with your email address. Otherwise if someone could instruct me how to do it I'm happy to upload it to this site for download on demand.

I purchased 5 packs (20 units) of screen-it tailored made for the D70, 'LCD' and 'Control Panel' screens from Purplemoo. Landed it costs about AU$2.50 per sheet. I hand out one to every new registered user/members that attends 'Adelaide Meets' at no charge. It is not going to break the Bank.

Intersting what ppl use for their LCD covers.

This will cause a problem with residue (glue) remains on the LCD once you would like replace the old sheet and may scratch the LCD, the PDA screen protector is not doing that way.

Well Glen, I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you...
Seriously, I found it on a royalty-free image bank CD. I know where Gary got his from: I was at the mini-meet last Saturday. Where were you?

Timbo, I heard that Gary needed a D2X and a light tent to produce a 2k avatar! I wasn't there but couldn't have afforded the production cost for the avatar
Looking forward to being there this Saturday.

Yes, he was looking so comfortable lying on his side by the tent with the D2x in his hands we thought all he was lacking to complete the assignment was a pillow and sleeping bag

Thanx.
I've placed it

I'll probably add a link to it in a new files (similar to the tutorials) section that I'll create for the front page.
