After quite a while stuffing around with various software "solutions", I've decided to bite the bullet and cough up for a Spyder (or similar).

Seeing as how the Spyder doesn't feature in "Birddog's Bargain Bazaar" I'd appreciate any tips from members about what to get, where to get it and how much it should cost!!

TIA, John

Mac or PC?

I ask because the PC version has a less expensive one.

John,

Feel free to try mine out before you buy if you like, I'll bring it along to next week's minimeet. It's a Spyder 2, and set me back ~A$250 shipped from Adorama.

Nnnnsic: PC

MCWB: Thank you very much for your kind offer. If I don't get stuck at work, I'll take you up on the offer :D

Calibrated monitors are so overrated. I miss having to visually compensate for known colour shifts and differences from monitor to print. Using a calibrated monitor has taken away the 'surprise factor' of receiving prints back from the shop with slightly different colours on certain elements in an image, or complete shift in hue, etc.

It's no fun at all. Now I can't blame anything on poor print results. Unless I do more at home - on inkjet paper with dodgy 3rd party inks...
