Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 APO Zoom Macro II

Postby dankrause on Mon Aug 16, 2004 8:20 pm

Hi everyone,

A few ppl on DPReview seem to blow the wind up this lens. Just wondering if anyone here has one and if so, where'd ye get it?

I rang Diamonds in Adelaide (where I got my D70) and they reckon they can't get it anymore. So, I was thinking of getting one from deltainternational.com... anyone dealt with them before?

Cheers,

Dan.

I've read a bit about it too, and am keen to get one. Some would say go Nikon only, but I believe (from what I've read) that the Sigma is pretty good in terms of definition - maybe not as good as Nikon, but hey, I'm an amatuer enthusiuast with a limited budget and maybe not the critical eye that a professional might have.

So, where in Sydney would I get the best price? Any advice welcome.

I can't really comment on the Sigma as I've never played with one, but I've got the Nikkor 70-300 G and I'm happy with it. Yes it is a bit slow, and loud, but hey, what can you expect from such a cheap lens. And with a fast enough shutter speed or tripod the results are very satisfying (for me at least :P).
