iam not really following the ipod craze in fact i despise stuff like that.
anyway i heard the new ipod has a photo display panal so you can view your photos and upload via a cf card.
has anyone used this and can comment from exp?

From what I understood, though I've not seen one, it has no CF slot and you have to load it from the USB port.

I'm still not all that impressed by any of Apple's offerings for portable media, personally.

There are better devices out there... people just go for the iPod for one of four reasons:
1. It's stylish!
2. Their friends have one.
3. It's the in thing.
4. It's all they know.

They're not THAT GOOD a device... especially for the price that's charged.

From what I understood, though I've not used one either, is that you can use:

1. Apple iPod Camera Connector (read: USB = slow) to upload and view photos. You cannot view NEFs but you can view jpegs, so if you shoot in RAW+jpeg, you will upload both, view the jpeg, download both to your computer. My inderstanding that uploading 1GB would take over an hour, by which time the battery on your camera, ipod, or both will be drained.

2. Belkin iPod Media Reader (read CF Card = fast) to upload but not view photos.

Ah but my question is: what On The Go storage devices do people recommend? I'm thinking about a Voxsonics which reads the cards - but see that there's one that plugs directly into the camera.

anyone using a portable hard disc with their camera?

Voxsonics is not OTG,
It plugs straight to the camera or other storage devices and do not require PC or notebook.

Well...not really. The CF reader connects to the firewire port but from what I hear the speed is at USB 2.0 rate. No good for NEF files. Also I believe both devices are battery hogs.

Yes, full metal same as real, we used them in many occassions for re-enactment of the life of the Huey crew or pilot in VN war with full flight + G suits, survival jackets, flight helmets, all are real except the toy guns and a replica Chicom K-54 which the VC used.

i have an ipod photo for my psd and to set it straight, you need to purchase either the camera link or media reader (about $150 each) which then allows you to upload to the ipod. however photos are not veiwable direct from the camera. to view photos on the ipod photo you need to upload them to the ipod via itunes. personally im not happy with the quality of them and am sure all of you wouldnt be. but my ipod was a birthday present and i do like them over anything else for music.

Yes, I know they had a first batch (very few) here in Australia about week a go, don't know about the availability today at Teds, and my quoted price in the previously post was from other sources which they saw someone is selling them.
But I didn't order them cos I saw price too high (10 -20% more) with what I should pay for disti price. So I let them go and waiting for the second or third batch with more attractive price. You can work it out yourself from US$500.00 price tag.

Get both cos they're Epson
