Just looking at the member list (memo to self - get a life Stubbsy :? )

There are 741 registered users as I type and of these 334 have NEVER posted and another 118 have between 1 and 4 posts. That's well over half the registered users

If you are one of these people and are just lurking, come on in the water is fine. We're a nice bunch of people of widely varying levels of expertise from total novice to practicing professional.

If nothing else you must have an image you can post and remember - 30 (meaningful) posts + an image gives access to a number of restricted areas, including the bargains section.

Go on, do it - there's no time like the present.

Hell - just post a reply here and say hello 8)

Ahh dear Stubsy - this is probably a good time to post my 500th post. :D

To all those who haven't yet posted, please have a go and make a post. We all started by making a first post and then some of us got carried away but when you give, you receive. Personally for me, contributing to this forum has been an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Go on folks, jump in and start posting and you'll soon reap the bonhomie camararderie and the warm fuzzy feelings that go with all of that.

Cheers

Graham

I think you'll find we are a bit more sensitive than that. We enjoy helping the new folk on the forum find their feet...so start posting and start contributing, even if you only ask questions typical of a beginner. It's the nicest way to learn.

G'day Spada,
Go for it, I'm only a recent (and late!) convert to the hobby of photography and have learnt heaps from the members here who have helped with good constructive advice...

Cheers.

I think you'll find that the only time we laugh is when someone purposely says something stupid... or if I enter the room. ;)

Otherwise, you've got nothing to be afraid of.

Thank you Matt, Birdie and Stubbsy.

I don't feel like a senior member though. Still have a huge amount to learn and discover.

Congrats also to Sheepie who apparently managed to escape under the fence almost! :D

Don't worry Spada, people here never laugh at you; they might laugh with you though! Don't worry about saying something awkward or silly. Heck, I've done it for real in front of students dozens of times and I'm still alive!

Cheers
Graham
Birdie - I might be in Sydney in October. Hope to catch up with you then!

Stubbsy, can you stop posting please. I woke up this morning and looked and thought I'd not be far off creaping into the top 10, if only stubbsy stops posting. However you have decided to actually post something. How am I ever suppose to get into the top 10 if you keep on posting. Stop right now mister!

Well Darryl you managed to creep up because my social life has been busy the last two weeks (went out every night bar one) and yesterday I was in Sydney for the meet and stayed for a BBQ and an overnighter. Next week I have only 1 social engagement so I can post more

But the real answer is I post while I'm at work (good job the boss isn't a member or lurker). May I also suggest you keep away from all those birds, & type more posts

And remember it's not the quantity, it's the quality that counts.

Edit: ALmost forgot. This post ups my count by 1 - thanks 8)

Hi All,
Posting for the first time (no pressure) Wanted to thank you all for a great forum, this site was a deciding factor in coming on board and buying a D70. I joined up a week or so ago but have visited many many times before; biggest issue so far is trying to find an avatar that really captures the essense of "me" :D
Still climbing the learning curve (no SLR experience, but plenty of digital) and great to know if I can't solve it myself there are literally hundreds of others who can help.

Cheers
Daniel

Thanks for the compliment Wilbur. Good to see you're post count going up - you'll be a senior member before you know it  Everyone has something useful to contribute

Hi all

I have to admit I have been one of those lurkers for a little while now, but have seen that you are all a great bunch of people so I thought it was about time to introduce myself. I am a relatively newcomer to photography, after having a point and shoot for 12 months I sort of got hooked and took the step up to the D70 in January this year. I have to say that it is one great bit of kit and now understand why you are all so passionate about using it.

I have a basic setup at the moment with the kit lens a used 70-210 and a 50 F1.8, I hope to upgrade down the track once I get my skill level up a bit.

Anyway hi to you all and I hope you can put up with my newby questions.
