Yep - the one that fell has been there for thousands of years and then one day it just falls.
How lucky would you have to be to see it fall?
Mind you, there were twelve Apostles and now there is only eight left apparently.
Bet there are a few less crabs and shellfish around the fallen Apostle too.
Still there was once 24 Coopers Sparkling Ale under my stairs but there are only six there now *sigh*
Life is just awful sometimes Owen

Graham,

My understanding is that there were never 12 of these rock formations, and that the "12" Apostles was purely a marketing name.

Correct Gary! They were called The Sow and Piglets until 1922 when the name was changed to the 12 Apostles for tourism reasons!

A sad day when a Victorian icon crumbles, but that is part of nature unfortunately, and eventually, the remainders will follow.....

Lovely shots. First one is great. Perhaps better with the distracting rock in bottom left corner removed/cropped.
I like the last one too! I guess there's no prizes for guessing which will fall next. Look at the middle of the frame left hand side. That's where my money goes!

Nah Gary - there were 12 Apostles once - and probably a lot more.

The ninth Apostle fell over about a 1,000,000 years before the eighth :D

Thanks for the background Stormygirl. Was it the sow that collapsed? or one of the piglets, do you know?

Actually, I never realised the 12 Apostles is a marketing name. I always thought there were 12. If that's not misleading and deceptive conduct under the Trade Practices Act, then I'll be dammed!

Thanks for that

Cheers

Graham PS - How many wise men were there really?
A woman would probably say "none"!
But I recon there might have been four and the fourth was named "Gary"!
