I just reloaded my freshly charged battery and my 1gb CF card only to get a message on the top LCD with the follow... err... message... "CHA".
Checking the back LCD, it told me that the card couldn't be used.
So I turned it off, pulled the card out, put it back in, turned it on, and all was well.
Anyone know what this message was and / or what it means?

Yes, I'm glad it's fixed too.
I'm just curious as to what it is.

Leigh,
I also had one of those a couple of weeks back after inserting the card. Switched the cam off, reinserted card and all was good.
It had me wondering if there was a small amount of oxidisation on the pins or some other small problem that prevented proper electrical contact.
I have not had a reoccurence of the problem.
Cheers
Matt

CHA is CF card related. Maybe you wanna jam that card in the wrong way a few times to clear out any blockages... or not.

Hope you formatted the card before taking pics. I am told this message appears if the formatting is not done.. Had to junk a card myself, a while back. Luckily it was 256 mb

I got that message a few months back with a Viking card. I was ready to toss it out because nothing was working to read it or format it. Then I tried Lexar's CF rescue software (Photo Mechanic, I think) and it reformatted it and brought it back to life. Go figure?!

Who's going to use the 256Mb card on the D70 nowaday? Long gone by the wind.

I get this every now and then with my Astone CF card. Re-inserting and reformatting usually fixes it, but pisses me off.
Then again i get all sorts of errors appearing on the camera but i can attribute them all to me pushing the poor lil' D70 beyond it's limits. It's not fast enough at times. But i'll get over it.

I have a feeling that you and I have the same type of card, Steve, so I'll attribute it down to a problem in various batches of the card.
