Is that a good idea? Or are theere much better converters out there... since Nikon Capture doesn't install on my computer (not sure why), l let me know what you use and why!

Odd that Nikon won't install on your box.

However, I quite like Photoshop for my Nef's. CS2 does a fairly good job of converting them, and there's always tools like RawMagick.

I use PS CS2 with Nef converter(ACR), I find it ok....you need to use the advanced settings.
