NEF reviewing in camerahi all
when reviewing NEF's on my little LCD sceren, they seem to be quite bright, saturation quite high and generally images look quite nice ... brightness is set to -1 ... anyway, when i import into CS / ACR or even Nikon Capture editor, they are much darker and require substantial boosting etc. Any idea why things may be looking so pretty on the viewfinder, but not when the NEF is pulled into software?
Because the LCD sucks for reviewing images, well that's what I've found anyway. You have it at certain angles and it looks bright, other angles dark. Take it home and it looks totally different to what you expected. Wouldn't be bad if they had a larger viewfinder, and some how lockout the mirrored image from the lens and project the image from the CF onto the viewfinder. Atleast that'd stop issues with light reflecting off the LCD.

have you had your screen at home profiled......this would be a good starting point and camera back to default, then play to get color management between camera and screen

Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
Mine is set to -3 and is fairly reasonable, although I do not expect much in the way of accuracy, especially when I get outdoors into the sun. Generally, I only use it for the histogram and highlights screens.
Cheers Matt
I dont even really look at the review picture, as I know it bears little resemblance to reality. I look at the histogram only as it at least gives some idea of exposure.
If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??
