Nikkor 300mm F4 ED IF lens

Anybody used this or similar lens? Sure, it's got three days left but the price is remaining low so far.

I use the 300mm often. It is manual focus and can only be used with the D70 set to manual. The light meter will not operate so you have to take your best guess and then fire a couple of shots using the histogram to judge exposure. You will normally pin the exposure down with about 3 shots. The lens is tack sharp and has exquisite bokeh. It also works well with a 2X convertor...giving the D70 900mm of reach. If you can get one cheap then grab it.

Hi Steve,
If you get that under $500 I will buy you a slab of beer! That is the AFS version (I think Gary has the AF version, seemed very nice). They are a HK trader with two for sale, if they dont have a mate put in a bid in the last ten minutes I will be stunned. That auction will end over the $1k mark for sure (sorry to be a spoilsport).

tmwphoto want $1679 for the same lens

Confirmed that's the 300mm/ F4 AFS.
Wait and see what's the price at the end, won't be under 1K. If there's under 1K than it's a thrill cheap lens with its price.
Shipping from Hongkong once again from Honker seller!!

You should have told us about this AFTER you won the auction - otherwise you might be facing some competing bidders. ;)

Hear Hear!

I have itchy fingers just looking at it!

We need to form some sort of reserving system so that we dont drive each others price up!

I thought that too but check later to see if there is feedback. Thos two bids could be fakers, both buyers are asian and one had never bought before but sold plenty is actually a trader selling lists of asian contacts for purchasing computers :D

Killa, you did not miss a bargain there. One month later and no feedback from either of the two buyers or the vendor. Those lenses were never sold. All a show for us punters. Maybe Mr Poon at $890US is the way to go

Wow Glen, you really keep track of stuff huh?

I guess I better start submitting public feedback for my ebay transactions too - otherwise it might be conceived that I'm doing dodgy things like this lens seller/buyers. I have a total of 3 feedbacks, in my 2+ yrs of trading a dozen or so items.

Hey Killa,
A long lens lust now huh :)
It's also a nice piece of glass 8)
But you keep your eyes on eBay most the time, then you ignore HER (the Mannoora) :)

Nah, my ship is in my mind a lot. Work is hard at the moment.

I have lens lust, but nothing to support my desires.

This is a very old thread now :)
