Warranty Extensions- worth it?With the recent shutter problems experienced by Onyx and Matt K, I've been looking into extending the warranty on my D70, well, seeing if it's worth it anyway. CPU have a Insured Breakdown Warranty available, it's $50 for 1 year from expiry of manufacturer's warranty, $90 for 2 years, $special? for 3 years and $149 for 4 years.
One thing does bother me though: in the non-covered items is this: "work arising from failure due to fair wear and tear". Does shutter failure come under this? Hmm. Might have to give them a call tomorrow. If shutter failure is covered, the cost seems pretty decent for peace of mind, what do you reckon?
We're CPU reseller and I confirmed, shutter release does not "wear and tear". That's mechanism issues from the manufacturers.
They may not understand what the shutter release is, but they do understand the camera could not take any photos or not operational. Birddog114

If this is the case, I might as well get the extra insurance.
