Have you ever had that problem when you try to take a pic and you push the shutter button and nothing happens? Happend to me the other day when i took pic of lighthouse i had to step back a bit to get it to fire.
Anyone elses had this happen?

Are you using AF-S and a lens with a long minimum focussing distance?

AF-S won't let you fire until you have focus and if you are standing too close for your lenses minimum focus distance, that will never happen - so you can't take the photo.

BBJ I've had some issues like that where it had focus lock but wouldn't release shutter. Had to take the batteries out and reinsert.

Hi Nick , i was using the kit lens actually when it wouldn't fire and i am sure i had it on AF-S and well it wouldn't fire unless i focussed on an edge and figured this would have been the problem but yeh never thought it would have with the kit lens. Oh i ended up putting in manual mode and doing that way.

Ah good... I'm glad its not just me! :D
but BBJ maybe its something to do with mount Gambier??? :?

I have had this a few times lately... and again today!

put on 70-200, took a fews shots and then out of the blue... nothing!
The focus spot (through viewfinder) is locked on and nothing happens when pressing the shutter button. I had to turn camera off and on a few times before it released, but then no other problems for rest of shoot. I mainly shoot in 'S', but happens to randomly to pin point any reasons??

Shhhh.... maybe its a start of the BGLOD :(

YeahBBJ happened to me too 1 or 2 times. Didn't know what was going on but I switched it on off one time the other time i just switched to manual. :? Didn't know what it was but i figured with these sophisticated beasts I must have done or not done something to deserve it as I don't tend to read the manual too closely

I've had similar things happen a few times, focus is locked, everything ready to roll but shutter press does nothing. Re-focus, achieve focus lock again (confirmed with beep and through viewfinder), again nothing. When it's happened, I've had to take the battery out and re-insert and then OK...

For some reason lately a few times I've taken a shot and then get "CH" (I think) on the top LCD and on the back LCD receive "file(or similar word) does not contain image data"...??? When this happens I have to take the card out and put it back in again and then it's OK... Have tried multiple cards and it's happened with all cards so it's not a dicky card...

Makes me worried that one day it'll die at the wrong time and I won't be able to get it going again...

Have an extended warranty but worried as to how long it'd be away and whether the "problem" would occur while it's in a tech's hands...

Well Andrew it looks very nice, for what i can see and well it seems to have a lil bit of everything that one would want i think, hey the D70 is fine except for it slower AF so maybe this could be the next step for those who dont want the outlay of the pro D2X, i am sure if i didn't do what i do this would be the 1 i would be looking at as a second camera, but well early days yet all sounds good and will have to wait for someone to get 1 in there hot lil mits to see what it can do.

John, just out of interest...what orientation are you using the camera when the shutter plays up? Landscape or portrait? I find mine only doesn't misbehaves in portrait mode and when the SB800 is mounted...which is a pain!

Just sent mine back to Andersons with this sort of thing happening, and just after I got it back from being fixed for BGLOD........
