Need Help

Postby Oneputt on Wed Jun 08, 2005 9:44 am

I have a small pressurised can purchased from Officeworks for cleaning dust from keyboards and electronic equipment.

It is called Air Duster made by Fellowes in the USA. Active component appears to be Tetrafluoroethane. It contains no HCFC's or CFC's.

Is this safe to use on my sensor?

Conventional wisdom seems to be that it is not good to use any compressed air on the camera's sensor.
I wouldn't use anything other than a hand-operated blower.

the danger is that compressed air is generally cooler than ambient. this will then condense on your sensor, potentially welding any dust onto the surface. there have been quite a few posts on DPreview re this problem, and general concensus seems to be DON'T DO IT :)

No.

There will be a propellant of some kind in the can, Would you like some of that sprayed onto your sensor?
