Photoshop version

Hi guys can anyone tell me which version of photoshop is the newest as i have a friend who can give me his version (i think his is 7)to D/L but i dont really want a really old version that is a bit behind the times thanks Stephen

CS2 is the latest version. After 7 was CS (basically
PS 8 ), so CS2 is like 8 1/2 or maybe 9.....

I think the newest might be PhotoShop CS2, I've used CS but no earlier versions but I think CS started support for 16 bit???

Each dot (pixel) of colour in your images is described numerically. If an app only supports 8 bits then only half as many bits are used to represent each pixel as would be the case when 16 bits are used so the range of colours is less (because a smaller number of colours can be numerically represented).
8 bits = 256 possible colours, 16 bits = 65536 possible colours.
