I believe, I learn (Mr Fawlty) (sorry, old quote from favourite tv show), I relax.
It is an interesting issue. I shot some NEFs and some JPEGs yesterday. I think that the JPEGs give quicker gratification, NEFs give more potential for PP. Plus all the other stuff discussed in that other thread.
I suspect that the correct position is, do whatever you like, as long as you enjoy your photography!

Interesting perspective, but I think it may be running off on a tangent.
It's all very nice that most observers cannot discern between a jpg or raw file, but so what? I'm not shooting with that objective in mind. My purpose for shooting in raw is to be able to retain as much of the original shooting data as possible; once that's gone, it's gone forever.
Just my 2 Eurocents.

The more information captured at the time of exposure has to be beneficial to the final out come.
