Some years ago I was involved in a project investigating the atmospheric clouds of Venus. We were using a large optical telescope (the exact size has slipped from my memory - but it was moved with motors and was housed in a characteristic white dome). Anyway, I had a go at trying to photograph the clouds by putting a film camera in place of the eyepiece. Had some fun, but the images turned out to be total crap... It was one hell of a lens though!
