My wife just finished organising all our family fun images that we have taken since 4 years ago. There is over 3000 images that we need to prints. It all happy snaps of the family.

What is the cheapest place in Sydney that does it? Prefer a Fuji Frontier machine, but it really does not matter.

Hardly Normals Broadway use a Fuji Frontier machine and for 300+ they were 30c about 5 months ago. You can probably get it a bit cheaper than that.

Not sure, but might there be a different way rather than your standard retail photo lab? 3000 is a fair number.

Yep, storage will be another thing, already purchase a large volume of slip in albums

BigW do it for 20 cents each, I 've tried about 50 pics last month, quality is good , print in Matt or gloss paper.
Kmart also 20 cents each, I haven't tried it yet, use Kodax system .

Just be sure of the quality, there is no point paying a bit less for a lot less.

Family photos are the thing I'd save in a house fire (after the family that is) despite the fact I can only just lift and carry the photo chest. I reckon quality and longevity is important - you want them to look their best (colour, finish, etc) and last their longest.

Yep, besides D70 is insured, low cost shutter reset and upgrade to newer version

Also don't forget the paper. The stuff they use at Kmart, Harvey and Big W really annoy me...they're quite flimsy and bendable. I know this shoudln't be an issue if you stick it in an album, but I'd rather have the thicker paper

Fuji crystal archive paper is the one I think you are referring to. I think all the Fuji Frontier systems use that one.
I have yet to find a cheap print lab for 6x4s that prints really good quality images on good paper.
I guess one has to make compromises somewhere and the paper is the preferable to the IQ.

I'm with you and I never go to those outlets to print my photos, I always pay little bit more and get the colour + quality printed paper I want.

I prefer the results from a fuji machine over a Kodak one.

I got some done at Kmart and they are very ordinary compared to the ones printed out at Harvey Normans. Plus Kmart I had to wait until the next day and Harvey norman did it straight away.

Yor lucky, the machin here at Hardley Normal is that if it is work that is not normal as since they have had the machine in there for near the last 12mnths it has not worked, yet they still put the sighn out.

Ahh good to hear I'm not the only one who thinks like that I'm guessing the el cheapo ones are geared towards the consumer and not the more serious hobbyist

I normally print on my Epson 2100. More stuff done by a franchise shop with Fujifilm lab but have to be under my control of colour and quality, cos these photos will give away to some organizations and they frame them.

Does anyone know how much a 6x4 on an elite printer like the epson 2100 (or 1800 for that matter) would cost, including some GOOD paper? Just curious.

hmmmm, yep I agree about the quality in colour and paper.

We just want to print the images, so there is a physical album to show family and friends. So quality and paper is not the number thingy for these pics. Most are just straight from camera, no PP at all.

In general, I find that people (family and friends) with digital camera have all there pics on CD/computer....don't have physical albums. People just capture and capture but never print.

Thanx Glen, and what paper would you (or anyone else) recommend at pre-cut 6x4 size for the 1800?

The free Epson stuff had a great price or some Kodak I saw on special. I don't really print 100x150 on the printer as it is not economical and I prefer A4 to A3+ sizes for my old eyes

yep >3000 pics....this is after deleting all the really bad ones. It is 4 years of happy snaps of the kiddies. Plus alos we still have all the film images.

If you haven't yet printed shutterbug, you can get 15c prints from QFL.

QFL basically collects film or media mainly from pharmacies and develops/prints and then delivers it back to the pharmacy most of the time next day or within a few days.

Minimum is 50 prints for this offer.

You should easily find a pharmacy in your local area that offers this.

I have used QFL to print digital images and can say they turned out very well.
