Just looked at the BoM website. Coolangatta received 369mm in the 24 hours to 9am today and has received another 96mm in the last 2 hours
Lismore has received 129mm and 7.6mm...

Coolongatta must be swimming in it. They are talking of 6,000 being evacuated from Lismore, Coolongatta must have a great drainage system

Yep - there is a heck of a lot of water - but the good news is that both Raydar and myself are in the "high and dry" zone.
It will be interesting to see if our flood levies hold out.

I'll see if I can grab a few snaps in the next day or so. We should have plenty of water and sunshine at times tomorrow.

I'm thinking of changing my logon name to Leak...
Does anyone have a tarpaulin without holes or a VERY large umbrella to put over my house please... It's a bit like the Chinese water torture here, wondering where the next leak in the ceiling is going to appear...
I suppose that taking the roof off my house was guaranteed to break the drought wasn't it
Plip... Plip... Ah there goes another one... :-S

Leek, K-mart used to have large poly tarps cheap (about $90 for 6x10 metres). I used them when I had my roof off as they were less than the cost of hiring real builders tarps. They also have the advantage due to cheapness that you can nail them up, just use a batten over the top and nail the batten on through them.

Ok here are a few images I took over lunch today........ it is expected the water level would be peaking tonight at about 1m higher than what is in these images.
First of all the newly acquired water view from our new block of land .. ... building was scheduled to commence Monday of this week - Not likely
This is looking due North - normally no water or creeks are visible and Bangalow road (our main northerly highway) is somewhere under that water.
I took a 100% crop of this image to show two stranded houses - lets hope they have been evacuated!
This is our new flood levy getting its first test.
A staff photographer of our local rag with his D2H
I just liked the reflections in this public amenities scene
And last but not least is the mandatory D70users duck shot - as the little fellow on the left of the image flees the scene of the crime - now that could be a decisive moment perhaps
.
Cheers,

Perhaps he should go take a walk into the flood waters with his camera and clamber out with his bag and go "I thought I was a gonna, but my camera is cactus......Boss I need a new camera, I need a D2X".[

Knowing the budget of our local rag, even if he did drown his current camera they would probably only replace it with the D2Hs - not the D2x ... no need for 12mp in the country
A fine weekend and building will commence on the coming Monday (only a week delay
)

Pretty boring Craig and the opposite of your shots, down here North Sydney Council had a rule that you could have only one water tank under 2,000 litres, I lobbied all the councillors and got that changed a few weeks ago. Two weeks ago with 39% water capacity that seemed like a good idea. They took a shot of me with my new tank arriving on the truck. Since then it has rained so hard I haven't been able to install it, so it sits empty beside my place

Not out yet Geoff, will probably be a blast against the council, my letter was secretly released to the paper by one of the councillors and it was a scathing letter, I just wanted it to be easier for people in the community to be able to do the right thing without red tape, but who knows how it will come across.

Glen,
More rain coming down to our way
do we need it?
I go up to the Hunter and freely wash my cars, high pressured hosing the driveway, watering the garden and perhaps will bring all dirty clothes up there to do the wash if the water restriction in Sydney getting tougher.
Taking photos on the beaches, yes many surrounded beaches. No one ask me to stop, birds, wild life around your living, many opportunities for my hobbies as Williamtown RAAF is just around the corner (20 min. drive), can shoot many photos of the F18 or the Hawk with the short gun, hearing fighter jet screaming overhead.
It's our DRP site. (
Disaster
Revovery
Plan).
I can see Sydney is most the hectic place to squeeze in now with traffic, photography prohibited, pollution etc...

Great shots Craig and I'm pleased to hear you and Diana escaped unscathed. The block looks great - looking forward to seeing your pics chronicling the evolution of Casa del Jordan

Thanks Simon,
I anticipate the building work to continue until early to mid December so there will be a scattering of images showing progress from now till then.

Is there a mini meet of house warming for D70 members once the house finished building?

Birddy, I think you are right with your Disaster Recovery Plan, Sydney is getting more difficult (or maybe I am getting older and less tolerant) and up north is nice. I don't wash my car often, but it is nice to have the option of doing it.
Chris, no machine gun towers, but a council officer was around here recently and she noted "you seem to have a lot of cameras (surveillence) around your house". I don't think she would like any more security.
