Don't know if this would be any good or not, I don't think there quality of CF is right for a ballhead, but really don't know, Feisol have introduced a CF ballhead.

I doubt about the solidity and life for the CF head, but it weights more than 1/2kg.
Someone may try and have a review of it for member.

No Gary, with the RRS Ballhead in my bag I know I wouldn't pull this out of the bag. Birddy, I think you are right, there CF might not be durable enough for a ballhead

ps pricing is $159US which is about a third of a RRS ballhead so the price is right

What I suggest is:
- Wait for their second revision after the first release.

Then again, it does have the Arca-Swiss head, so it's pretending to play with the big boys. And yea, entry fee to play with that group is disturbingly high.

Birddy, personally i think I would wait till someone else tried it Whilst I am happy with their monpod, the technology in it and its light weight don't make me think it will transfer to a ballhead.

Heh, agreed! I don't necessarily see the problem with using CF in a ballhead, as it can be incredibly strong and durable if you make it; time will of course tell whether the construction is up to scratch though.

Actually this ballhead had a pretty weird target demographic: I'd have thought those in need of the Arca-Swiss system would be people who don't mind spending the extra money to get the small performance gains, i.e. to put it bluntly, the Arca-Swiss system aint about bang-for-buck.

Certainly to be curious to see how people find them. The price is certainly right and looks well made. Only sticking point I can see (or actually lack thereof) is it doesnt seem to have any friction setting.

I emailed Feisol to ask if their clamp was arca swiss compatible (to use on my mono). Alas, they replied it is not, even though it looks it in the above photo.

It's fun! so if you buy the Feisol head then you have to use their proprietary bracket
It's too big to have on the monopod, btw.

I was thinking of just the clamp to put on my Manfrotto RC234, to match my L Bracket. I thought the clamp would be cheap. Like you I can't believe that they would use a proprietary format They must be the only Taiwanese company to ever worry about copyright.

Yes, to use the Arca Swiss type, they need to pay for a license fees or Patent fees for Arca Swiss as same as RRS, AUB, or other manufacturers of clamps or heads

It seems to me it's not the one I'm looking for if I'm after a ballhead.
- No panning base is such a no no.
- Friction adjusting is little bit tricky
- CF is just a cosmestic works and what're the made of internal parts?
- How this BH last on daily use or constantly use with the big zoom.

Very interesting. I mistook the friction adjustment for a panning lock. If I had the choice, I think Id far rather have a panning base than an adjustable friction lock.

Robboh, this would be a bit down market to match efficiently with what you are looking at I'm guessing

IMHO with the price US$159.00 and no panning base, it's better stick with the Manfrotto or Gitzo head.
