CCD Cleaning

For those of us outside Sydney and therefore unable to attend the minimeets would it be possible for someone to write a tutorial on cleaning our sensors? I don't think that this has already been done, and it would be very helpful.

I agree should be too long, just take some series of snap shots at one of birdys min meets and hey presto. we have a tutorial form cleaning the CCD

I have just completed the second season of cleaning my CCD. Immediately afterwards I went outside and found a peice of blue sky and took one (1) shot at f/16 and this was the result. Problem is that I have a 'LCD' screen and I just to make sure that it is completely clean via a 'CRT' screen. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
From what I am seeing it looks good to go.

Left side about 1/2 way up near edge and going on an angle towards the top there are smuges. Easy to see if you can move the viewing frame, and a dust bunny bottom right near edge

Fozzie, try an Autolevels in Photoshop, it will show up your dirt easily:
Try it with the original, it'll probably come up clearer!

Thank you for your help. I will use this process in future.
I have cleaned the 'CCD' three times today and still not totally clean. I will give it a rest and go in again next weekend. I think I can now do this process in my sleep

Fozzie, as long as you get most of it off is good, if i see a couple of small specs i dont worry about unless they really affect the picture. it is something that you might leave till next time as i do. If i start to see them then i clean, but i tend to wait till it gets more on there as i change lenses a lot make more prone to getting a dirty censor.

It is a little frustrating that you can not get it totally cleaned, when using all the correct cleaning aids and follow the recommended process. Oh well, next time.

Those specks that show are EXTREME and are not woth worrying about. You will never see them unless you are shooting with a 10.5mm lens at f/16 into clear tones. It is too easy to become paranoid about this stuff and it will drive you nuts. Your CCD is very clean....you did a good job...now get out there and take some shots. By the way...those specks will come off next time you do a clean. Breath deeply and relax. No body won a prize for a clean CCD.

It is amazing how you can look at the sensor with the human eye after cleaning and it looks so clean, but when taking a shot of blue sky and then transfer to the computer, convert RAW to JPEG and increase to 100% the spots turn up. My words this morning were as the Toyoyta ad 'BUGGER'.
