Nikon 80-200mm & TC 14E on my D70 ?Hello to all,
Can you please give some advise on this combo. A 80-200mm with a TC 14E Does this work well ? Does this make the 200 a 300 because of the 1.5 crop factor on D70 ? and does this make it a 420 with the 1.4 TC ? Or doesn't it work like that ? Thanks, Mic.
Yes, the TC-14EII will work very well with your 80-200 AFS/ 2.8
And the end of 200 will become 300 on all the Nikon DSLR (1.5 crop). And with TC-14EII on the 80-200 and DSLR will become 420. I don't have the 80-200 but I have 70-200/ AFS/ 2.8/ VR and have all the TC-14EII anf the TC-20EII Birddog114

Just to add on to Birddog14's post... Is your 80-200 the AF-S or the AF-D version ? The Nikon TC-14EII will only work with AF-S lenses (without modification). If you have the AF-D version of the 80-200mm, you'll have to get a third party TC (Kenko Pro series etc).
Yeah! I noticed that too! if the 80-200 is not the AFS version then nothing we can do about it. Birddog114

Yes the new TC14EII cost around AU$700.00 from any reseller (Maxwell stock), grey import cheaper. I paid year ago $850.00. Birddog114

I just had a look at pricing - not cheap...Maybe I should have just looked this up before I asked the question....Oh well, I do plan on getting the 70-200 VR for my birthday (if my hubby is generous enough) in the next 6-8 weeks...
I may see if Poon can do me a deal on this, since I have placed two orders with him in the last week. Cheers Kristine
have you thought about the sigma 70-200 f2.8 hsm with the sigma 2x apo? full autofocus and from what i've seen the results are still very sharp..

Hi xerubus Thanks for the suggestion. I had only looked at getting the Nikon, and decided on that because of how excellent everyone agrees it is. I only have Nikon lenses, which is another reason I went straight for this lens. I will have to have a look at the Sigma - sounds promising. Hopefully I will be able to find some pics on the Internet that have been taken with the Sigma lens. Cheers Kristine
I am a big fan of nikon lenses.. however sometimes I go for other brands.. usually persuaded by $.
here's a link of sigma 70-200 shots... should be some in there with 2x. http://search.pbase.com/search?q=sigma+ ... hotos&c=sp hope this helps... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Hi xerubus,
I had the Sigma 70-200 for a few days, swapped with my BIL, it's a good lens but lack of VR that what I what I always need cos shooting in many events that not allowed tripod with no flash, wide open under natural lights, and I used to run around to hunt photos, not stationed, so the Nikon 70-200VR suits my style of shooting apart from that it's Nikon and it's a gem.
