D70 & old lensesOne of the reasons I bought the D70 last year was because I have a stock of older Nikkor lenses. Although I am still depressed about what the D70 does to my 20mm Nikkor, I have forgiven it for how well it handles my really old manual 105 nikkor and my Tamron 90 mm.
I took quite a few portrait shots of my kids with the 105mm and a few close ups of son's Warhammer 40,000 with the Tammy. Although the new lenses have everything that opens and shuts, a good bit of glass between reality and the ccd and a free hand to focus is sometimes all you need. So this weekend while you are contemplating all those new lenses you can buy, rediscover your old favourites and give them a whirl on the D70.....Then trade them in. Any thoughts? Nikon & Olympus
Re: D70 & old lensesPeter,
Great question. They still work just fine on ye olde filum camera, right? Why not break out a roll of AP100 or KC64 ?? Or is it a case of nostaligia simply ain't what it used to be? g.

When you see the results on a decent printer (eg R1800 comes to mind) both B&W and Colour, the idea of using film is becoming 'grainy' to say the least. When I did a photoshoot with the kids, I was able to be a 'pretend' professional and take tons of shots using different lights and speeds and apertures using the old lenses. Even the few I miffed, I was able to fix in photoshop. I think the end result (good photos) justifies any means (ie digital or film) film takes up so much time that it is hard to even break the perforation on those 4 boxes of FP4 in my gadget bag. I used to be a film purist and now I am a digital realist. Peter Mc Nikon & Olympus
