Further to the thread on the Cannon image comp: What comps do you know of and what are thier pros and cons..

Pros: Nice people, entrant retains all IP even if he wins, prizes for pic of the month, mostly free (see cons)
Cons: You have to pay to get a better chance of winning (your image becomes elidgable for more categories), the paid categories have the best prizes

Need to get works submitted before 5pm 26th of July 2005. Theres a PDF on the site with specifications on how work is supposed to be submitted.

Looks like it could be fun, but I might have to borrow someone's D2x - Submitted images if selected will be displayed in a format of 3.5m x 2.33m... Admittedly it only needs to be at 75 dpi, but still

I didn't see this when I posted a note about the City of Sydney comp last night on Events....


may I suggest that Events might be the best spot for competition notices.....


But good to see the attention that they're getting here.

They've actually already got a published thumb book from when it first started. I've got 2 cuts(photos) in their gallery FWIW.

Going back to the City of Sydney one... Is there any way that we can submit a photo suitable for printing at 3.5m x 2.33m???

By my calcs that would mean a photo of about 10000 pixels by 6800 pixels... Do any of the upsizing tools do that good a job that they can more than triple the size of a photo?

The Absolut cuts one is so based on flickr and google isn't it. Interesting that the advertising people moved so fast on that.
