Hello D70 users, Image

I'm new to this forum. I can pick up my 2nd hand D70 next week but I can't wait. I've been reading tons of stuff about it and really am looking forward to shoot with it. :P

I started out 10 years ago with an old Ricoh, moved on to the N70/F70 and then upgraded to the N90x/F90x. With vertical grip of course :P

Photography is still a hobby with mainly pictures of family, holidays and so on, but still I really like to try out all kinds of techniques to get the best results. Sometimes I can spend a whole day just to take a picture of a milk carton, just because I want to know how to get that professional kind of lighting. With homemades softboxes and so on, lots of fun.

And exactly that experimental desire has finally convinced me to buy a digital camera. I'm not considering it a switch, just an extra addition to my gear. Finally I can take a thousand test shots of every thing and get direct feedback! Whoohoo!

G'day El,
Love it! :) I look out my back yard and in about 15 metres I hit the fence :(

Let's start a bovine fetish, makes a change from ducks!

Cheers. PS: Is that a wire fence along the creek/water edge?

Nice El, this is the sort of countryside I love. When I go down to my Uncle's brothers place this is sort of what I'm greated with.

Anyway, back to cameras. Seeing as you're an old Nikon N70/F70 etc user you should have no trouble adapting to the D70. I used to own a Nikon F80/N80 and I found the biggest changes from film to digital were the white balance settings and of course the image settings (eg. raw/jpeg, color modes, sharpness etc). Having said that the controls are very similar from one Nikon to another I have found. So it should be fairly second nature.

Hi Kipper,

I always scan my film to play around with it, so white balance and all that are not completely new. What is new (and a big improvement) is that I can set the white balance accurately at the scene instead of doing an educated guess at post processing.

I never tweaked digital images using curves and such, so that will be new ground to cover. And I want to change from Paint Shop Pro to the real Photoshop thing to be more compatible with the online tips and tricks that I read all the time. So still a LOT to learn! Where can I buy that Nikon accessory MSP-1000 (More Spare Time)?
