Hi All
Hope the Sydney meeting is going well and that the attendees are not legless after all the post fashion parade Moet

Somehow a fingerprint appeared on the front of the kit lens. I've taken it off using special microfibre cloth that is used for coated glasses but can still see an oily mark on the lens.

Does anyone have any recommendations about what to use to remove the mark?

I have always used lens tissues. Kodak & most optic manufacturers make them.
The best method is to scrunch up one end, then wipe lens element in circular motion beginning from the OUTSIDE of the lens and finishing in the centre.
I find this method will remove finger smudges.

Did you also get some Eclipse in your order? If so, use a Pec Pad with a couple of drops of Eclipse.

Is it on the filter or the lens?
If it's on the lens...get it off fast! Or ot will etch through the anti reflection coatung. Breath on it...and wipe it with that magic cloth.

Well, I went to Bentley's Camerahouse at Indooroopilly and found two different cleaning kits. Upon asking which one would be the best for cleaning the D70 lens, I was told neither and they did not have anything suitable for a D70 * The way they said it was as if the D70 is to cameras as a Rolls Royce is to cars.
I do appreciate Bentley's honesty - thanks fellas!
They suggested breathing on the lens and using the microfibre to clean the remaining finger oils off.
Everything now looks OK, but I'm going to redo the lens in the spot where an accidental finger print occurred again shortly.
I think it is probably my fingerprint, but then again, someone took a few pics of the ceiling, wall, doorway and bar, and it wasn't me! So the offending fingerprint could have came from whoever did this.
Wife, son and daugher had denied any involvement. The dog looks awfully guilty though Might have been a tongue print?
I'll pm birdy and see if he has anything left in his locker after your Sydney meeting today!
