By the time you read this, or at least by the time Gary responds, the creator of this amazing place will have chalked up 4000 posts.

On behalf of the hundreds of active members, a big thank you for making it so Gary. This is a fantastic place.

And of course, congratulations on your 4000 posts. Your really lead from the front, and show no fear in expressing your opinions (even when you're wrong    Only joking)

I don't see the big fuss.

It's not like he's hit 4200 posts yet.

I think he'd prefer an RD-1.

That said, he'd probably take both.

Well Leigh as I post this he's at 4002 isn't that close enough.

Well done Gary. I think the personable friendly nature of this forum, while contributed to widely by members, owes a serious amount of that to the way you've imbued each and every one of us with your enthusiasm for robust discussion leavened with a healthy dose of humour and sarcasm and without the need for personal attacks to make a point.

Both will do very nicely, thank you very much. :)

And thanx, y'all for the good wishes and thoughts imbued in this thread; I do appreciate it.

Peter, how can I disagree with that?

Now, what the hell are y'all doing inside, sitting at your pcs?

Go forth and make photographs!

:)

Gary

4000 posts. Average 50 words per post that 200,000 words which is equivalent to 2 PhD's and several novels. You could have had fame and notoriety but you chose this. Well done for our sake.

I have noticed your ever present positive, constructive and encouraging tone with a nice sense of humour to top it off. Beats a PhD any day.

Kind regards

Gary
You planted a seed, nutured it, and now you have nearly 1000 new family members within which many new friendships have been born and blossomed. Newcomers to photography have honed their skills within this media and posted some astonishingly beautiful images for us all to enjoy. We have been educated, informed, amused and flattered by complete strangers who now break bread together at restaurant tables and touch glasses of wine in a show of comraderie. Life is good as it should be and we lucky few who are able to live like this should aknowledge that living on the planet Earth can be both heaven or hell, depending on how the dice fall.
For us the dice have fallen well.

Gary,

Congratulations and sincere best wishes from Chryssine and myself.

I wish I could wax as eloquently as MattK, but will confine my praise to the observation that converting to Nikon then discovering this website and the people it represents have made me a very happy old   man

Matt,

Tham's tough words to follow, but they very much sum up how I feel about the "family" that we've created here.

1000 new friends in just under a year; that can't be too bad, can it now?

Amongst your new family there may be one, "for n sick" who cannot be trusted. He covets your crown and should be watched carefully. He is seen as an ambitous and power hungry young man. Beware the Ides of March. Beneath his cloak lurks a Canon powershot and a million Polaroid shares. You can be protected by sleeping with the D70 instruction manual beneath your nightshirt.
