Postby kipper on Tue Jul 12, 2005 6:46 pm

Just for anybody interested. You can rent a D2X from Kayell. It's fairly pricey, but for those wanting to use one for an important event it might be handy.

NIKON NIKON D2X DIGITAL CAMERA KIT
Daily $220.00
Weekend $330.00
Weekly $1,100.00
Monthly $4,400.00

Why you'd hire one for a month I don't know.
I just happened to notice this while trying to find a place that might rent out a pan/tilt head such as the Wimberley Head. Wouldn't mind trialling one out to see what they're like.

Some Pro did! no wonder if their camera is in the Service guy's hand and they can make monies out of that easy.
They can go on one assigment from their clients and get paid 20-30K a month.

It's simple Birddog, buy another D2X use it for a month and then sell it again. I'm sure it wouldn't depreciate by $4k over a month?

I might go into D2X rentals. Lol. Sounds like a good way to make money.

Some they don't do that way cos clients paid for their rental gears and they don't have to worry anything.
I've been working with couple guys like that in the past, they're young and ready to jump on the plane for an assigment with a short notice with their own belonging. Cameras and gears is waiting for them at their point of arrival. They normally selected and nominated their gears in their list and they don't have to worry or wonder where are they come from, if the bodies failed or faulty during their assigment, they'll receive their replacement gears on the spot. They sometimes travelled by VIP jet also.
Bad luck, I couldn't join them.

Edit: And they treated their gears like Sh***t

Sounds like the story Norm was telling me about ex-press gear. He told me about the 500mm F/4 AFS at CE being ex-press and how he came across in the newspaper industry that threw the gear around. Or if they were really pissed off they'd toss it in the Yarra.

Guess that's how they get fungus/mould :)

Also while on that note, the 500 F/4 AFS at CE has been sold to somebody on Nikonians.
