I've just downloaded and played with Google Earth application.
This thing is FANTASTIC.
You can fly from space to your street address using satellite imagery. It is awesome.

You can download the app from here http://earth.google.com/
Man, the technology available to us these days is simply mind blowing.

Hah!

This is a program I played with a few months ago that it appears Google may have either bought out or just adapted for their own use.

Still, it's a hell of a lot less inexpensive than the original company used to charge for it.

Matt, can you see the streets of Sydney? When MHD was showing a similar service, Canberra was high definition but Sydney was very LQ.

I've been using Google earth for about 2 weeks now. Glen - parts of Sydney are excellent, i.e over the airport etc, but anywhere (at the moment) north of the bridge is crappy. Still, it can only improve. An amazing piece of software though! :).

Thanks Geoff. As you say they will have to improve the coverage of the north side. Frenchs Forest controls a few sattelites so I am sure they will get northside eventually

I posted this a few weeks ago, but it's worth repeating now that a few more people have got into Google Earth...

If you download this highlights file then you can take a virtual tour of some of the world's greatest sights...

In fact didn't we have this whole thread a few weeks ago?

It must be deja vu, but I seem to see threads repeat.

Maybe the problem is being on the bleeding edge of technology.

It could also be that there is so much activity (a very good thing) that people don't see threads as they go past ( a bad thing) despite the view topics since your last visit facility (which is a good thing).

Overall I prefer vuja de - seeing things that you haven't seen before.

I should have acknowledged Kel Richards and Word Watch on News Radio for that phrase. Thanks Kel!
