Re: Epson R1800 WoW WoW WoW.Mic,
I'm thrilled on two counts - I too have the R1800 and I can only echo your comments (except to tell you to grab some Ilford pearl paper - it'll knock your socks off) in that it's just a brilliant printer. And thanx for your thanx re the forum, but I put that down to the community here - we all pitch in and help, and I doubt that it gets better than that! g.

Mic,
We've had a few great discussions regarding this (R1800) thing of substantial beauty. I am still in love with mine. I have been using Tetanol paper for reasons apparent on the posts regarding this printer. I am blown away with the clarity, excellent colour and overall professional touches that this printer provides. Its a big sucker and is now emperor of my desk. Most of us have about 20 billion digi photos that we've saving for retirement to print but its great to print a few along the way. It's a great way of visually demonstrating the value in all the equipment we have to buy. Congrats and enjoy. Peter Mc Nikon & Olympus
Thanks Guys,
Gary, just ordered 100 A4 sheets of Ilford Pearl. I'll let you know how I go. Cheers, Mic. Wayne, I won't be stapleing this gold to lamp posts Also thanks Peter for the other recommendation on paper.
Mic, I doubt you'll be disappointed. We're printing on A3+ and loving it! g.

Mic, stop wimping out and buying the A4, buy the A3+ I also bought the Ilford Pearl on Gary's suggestion and it is now one of my favourite papers. $77 for 25 sheets (A3+) from Borge Imaging

Thanks Gary & Glen,
Yes, I think I'll get the A3+ when this lot runs out, I got this stock from Borge Imaging down here as well thanks to bp's suggestion. Still learning all this stuff still. If it's not one thing it's another, I haven't even been on the Forum for a year yet and boy have I learn't a lot. My brain has grown the most this last year than all of my years so far boy O boy. The rate of learning due to this forum & all you Guru's is out of this world, if I don't know something I just ask, it's like having another brain. Going home tonight to test the Ilford Pearl, can't wait, come on boring damn day job finish so I can have my fun. Mic.
You have chosen WISELY, Mic.
Congratulations on your purchase. You'd better get a gallon of each ink color to go along with that 100 sheets of paper. You will now be slightly poorer, but oh so very happy!! Does that mean we have an R1800 club now to go along with the VR, etc.? Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

There is so much talk on sites about the best lenses. My take is that the best lens produces the best photo 'when printed.' I seldom see a photo that doesn't look pretty good on the old computer screen.
The R1800 lets you know quick smart at A3 or A3+ whether all the hype about the lens means anything at all. R1800 makes a much better dark room than my converted toilet although my toilet has other qualities. Regs Peter Mc Nikon & Olympus

Hey Gary,
Loaded some Ilford Pearl into the Epson last night, I can't seem to spot the diff between the Epson Semi Gloss but its good stuff all the same and cheaper for me as well. I print at 200 dpi / semi gloss setting / best photo Any different tips for me ? Thanks, Mic.
Mic,
Yes, the papers are very similar in texture, etc, but coming from my background, there's something in me that says I should be printing photos on paper by Ilford, or Agfa .... Your settings sound about right too, so all is well with the world. Well, some aspects of it. g.
