After reviewing this link and couple of others my opinion now closer to negative about this lens.
Pros:
+ Fast lens
+ Very sharp
+ Cheap for this sort of lens
Cons:
- strong barreling
- spectacular highlights are in strange form - octagonal but squezeed from one side
So, I'm seriously thinking to lust something else ....

I'd love to but it's too expensive for me meantime

I have no doubts about quality and versatility of this lens but mortgage pulls my saving capasity down.
What's average price for 28 1.4, BTW?

What's mortgage????????????????????????
It's price is around or over 2K if you're lucky can find one O/S.
No new stock for more than 12 months now

Home loan
Not impossible but still bit expensive

Why Home loan?

MCWB wrote:Man, I hope that's just a really bad sample of the lens. If not, for the price that's craptastic!

Um ... Yes .... and No ...
Nikkons 50mm 1.4 and 1.8 are relatively cheap but both are quite good lens. Especially, 1.8 for 200 bucks is a gem
