Cash burning a hole - what to buy??

Ok,

Having just had a birthday, I have a little amount of cash to play around with completely conscience free!
I have about $300 to just "blow" on some kit. Now I know it won't buy me much, but I would appreciate some ideas. I'm not going to be able to save it because it just burns a hole in my pocket. :D

I'm thinking about maybe an SB600. I know it isn't an 800, but I could have it soon and start playing with remote flash and all that.
Or another filter of sorts.

So yeah, what's the general consensus? Buy something now, or hold on?

Cheers

Save another $100 or so dollars and you can have an SB800

Your hard earned cold cash is worth with the SB800.
Save up more, have a donut for breakie and lunch and a packet instant noodle for dinner

As you already ahve the 50 1.4 I would go the SB 800. It is a better unit and can act as a commander etc if you borrow someone elses, I don't beleive the 600 can. Also I want you to endure as long a learning curve as me on these flashes

A portable image storage device could be had starting from around that price... :)

I agree with waiting a bit longer and saving that bit extra for the SB-800!! You won't regret it! :)

Matt

If you can find the extra $ go the SB800, if not the SB600 would be damn good too. My experience is the SB800 works a treat with the 50/1.4 you already have and I'm guessing the SB600 would be similar. eg

Either the 600 or 800 would be an excellent investment Matt. I bought the 800 and will probably get a 600 further down the track as a secondary slave unit. You're SO close to owning an 800 !!! Save the few measly extra dollars and get it!!!

Thanks for the comments guys.
I know I really should wait till I have enough for the 800 but it's so frustrating knowing that I could get the 600 now.

grrrr...

Good things are worth waiting for. If I didn't think that, I'd be driving a Barina instead of a Ferrari.

(Okay... I don't drive a Ferrari. Yet. But the point is still valid! )

Manta,
I think you can afford to drive a Ferrari but you decide not
Save cash for some toys first, at the end cars are the same aren't they?

Don't know about that Birdy - there are Sigma-type cars and then there are Nikkor-type cars!

Bit slow sometimes aren't I. Thought you'd commented in the earlier post.
