Just wondered if anybody has tried to sell their Nikon D70. If so what sort of price have they got or been offered for them.
My Nikon F80 I sold for $400 after 4 years. For some reason I feel that my Nikon D70, even though it cost me more will only fetch a few hundred if that.
It seems like a disposable item.

You seem like you've been in the game for a while...It would be nice if we knew what condition it was in, how many shutter actuations it has, any dings or scratches.
I mean a mint d70 with 5k shutter actuations should get you $600 no problem...one that is dinged up with 60k, might only get you 300.

Dunno about being in the game for a bit. More just an amateur.
As for the D70, probably sitting on 15k actuations and is in a very good condition. Would come with a spare battery too which is worth $80-100.
If I ever sold it that is, I'm not selling it
btw. Just interested to see what a resell value is on the item.

A new D70s at the moment is selling for $1490 body only however if you know what you are doing you can get it for $1350 or less. As a rule you should get about 65-70% of retail if you sell it privately, therefore it is worth between $875 and $900. if you were to sell it to a dealer though they are likely to buy it of you for half the retail value, mainly because they are going to have to put a three month warranty on it, pay GST on the sale and have enough change left in the deal for lunch money (and some of them dine in those flash lunch places too!).

kipper,
In the term of the resale value of the used D70, pls. refer to the D2h.
Some sold at the price of AU$2K or little bit more, the purchased price was over 4K 18 months ago.

The value depends on what is on offer on the market, so it can drop dramatically in the space of a week. A few weeks back I upgraded my computer, all that I replaced I gave to a mate of mine (motherboard, 1.6Ghz Pentium4 +RAM and so on...), not only because he his a mate and that it was for his daughter, but that is now obsolete. The same with the D70, when the real replacement is available, the value will plummet......
Cheers,
Gerard
