Smugmug / EXIF

Postby leek on Tue Aug 02, 2005 4:36 pm

Is it something I'm doing wrong, or have Smugmug started to strip the EXIF information out of the images they host...

I recently noticed that the information is not available using utilities like IEXIF, but is available if you click on the More Camera Details button in Smugmug...

I'm sure that it used to work correctly with IEXIF...

Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
Cheers, John

you should find the EXIF detail intact if you're viewing the ORGINAL version of the pic - the others have been edited by smugmug to produce different sizes, and I've found this strips the exif data.
I haven't tested to see if the originals still have data - just going by previous experience. Let's know if it's changed!

Nope - it's not there for any of the sizes... Original included...

Even stranger, it seems to be camera specific, as when I looked at some of GregB's images taken with a Canon Powershot, the EXIF information is there correctly (even on the medium sized shots), but on his D70 shots it isn't...

I think that I'll drop a line to the helpdesk...

Hmmm...
Maybe it's not as simple as that... Some pictures seem to have it and some don't... Maybe I need to do a bit more research...
Cheers, John
