AW weekend meet

Postby Matt. K on Sun Aug 07, 2005 10:49 pm

For all of those who could attend the AW weekend....I think you will all agree it was a fantastic and outstanding success. I'm sure you all agree that when you can get 75 people together....who knew each other only by the internet and a common interest, and they become firm friends within minutes of meeting each other...then something very special is going on. The forum is unique amongst forums the world over for bringing together just the nicest people. Congratulations to Garry, Than, and all those who worked behind the scenes to make the weekend a success. The D70 forum rocked. Everything went like clockwork. Everyone had a smile on their face. a camera in their hand, and fine food and wine in their tummies. It doesn't get any better than that. Thanks to all those who took the trouble to travel from interstate. What a commitment! And I know that none of you regreted your decision to fly or drive and come to Sydney. Congratulations to all of the competition winners...enjoy your prizes, and let us all start the new year by posting images, giving encouragement to each other regardless of skill level, and reaching out to each other as a unique community. Well done Gary, our host, and Than, our beloved patron. And please....could the next challange have a simple theme.
Regards

Sheeeeesh. I've just got back to Newcastle after filling up my 2 Gb card and my 3 x 1Gb cards (yes 5Gb!!!) over the weekend. I have lots of pics from Saturday's dinner to PP and I should get them online some time Monday night.

JUst wanted to concur with Matt's comments about the FANTASTIC time had by all and I'm looking forward to next year already. It was great in particular to meet the interstate members who made the time & took the effort to attend.

And also - next challenge simple unambiguous well defined theme (are you listening Heath????)

Yep, The week-end was an outstanding success, had a ball and met the friendliest bunch of people. Many thanks who went to so much trouble to make us Mexicans feel welcome... :D

Cheers.

You should have stood up and toasted with the contents of your post on the evening Matt. I concur with all that's said, this forum has attracted a great bunch of people, and it's been a blast to spend time with you guys at meets - whether on a photo shoot or just socialising over a sumptuous meal.

To those who travelled far to get to Sydney for the meet, and/or those who had endure Sydney's public transport - I hope your sacrifices were made worthwhile. It was great to meet the interstaters and even the Sydneysiders whom I would have otherwise only known by your posts online.

I apologise for my non-attendance at Taronga Zoo on sunday, and hoped those of you who went had a blast (the weather was good) and look forward to seeing your pics.
