Wide angle advice please

Hello everyone, i am looking to buy a fixed focal length wide angle lens to be used on our D70&D2X i want something that is in the range of 10mm to 20mm i know this narrows the field somewhat, but am looking for existing owners reccomendations, i have researched by reading brochures and the net and have found the Nikon 20mm 2.8 rates pretty highly as do a couple of sigma lenses, your opinions please

Down side:
Nikon 20/f2.8 become 30mm (1.5x factor), so so on film but does not show great glass with DSLR.

I have got Nikon 20/f4 AI which on digital gives 30 and for me it is a lot. Not too expensive second hand, small, smaller then 50mm prime, very light even if metal build, image quality is good. You could also consider 20mm/3.5 AI

Think, do you need AF with such a wide prime? Setting this lens at f8 gives you DOF from couple meters to infinity.

mate, thats a great idea! i guess u would chimp for the correct exposure?

With a bit of practise and histogram it is not that difficult to set correct exposure. See my images in this topic:

Most of them were taken with 105 AIS and manualy set up exposure. Maybe it is not that quick as having metering, but also not imposible. Really depends on needs. For me it works just fine.

Do you sell the the nikon 14mm 2.8? is there a f1.4 version?
is the optical(glass) quality the same on the 14 f2.8 and the 18 f2.8?
