Out of interest how much color fringing and chromatic abberation is noticeable with the 18-70MM DX lens when used with a D2X in comparison to the 17-55DX F2.8?
Just wondering if it's worth getting rid of the D70 kit lens and replacing it with a higher quality lens.

The D2X sensor definitely shows flaws in otherwise decent glass. It's not colour fringing per se, it's more general overall softness.
To be honest, I didn't find the 17-55 to be worth its premium compared to the 18-70, taking into account 4x cost difference. While it adds constant f/2.8 and sharper wide angle, from 35mm onwards or stopped down - the differences at 4x the price wasn't convincing IMO. Distortion levels disappoint too, for a $2k lens.

Cheers Onyx, I sort of wondered whether the price tag was justified. The constant F2.8 is nice but I don't think it warrants the price.
