First wet clean

G'day all,
Well I finally bit the bullett and performed a wet clean with sensor wipes and eclipse fluid.

Shaky hands due to nervousness, two drops, using bulb to keep the mirror up (and taking out the battery)...

One swipe and there's a couple of bunnies left, one more and most of those are gone, not that bad after all There's a couple left but compared to the before shot, I'm happy... I'll do better next time, now that I've done it once I feel a lot more at ease...

I only had a few bunnies until I gave it a blow with a blower thingy and I think I just moved all the dust around from inside the body onto the sensor glass, doh! Only had one bad one before that, that's what made me spit it and give it the wet jobbie...

These images are compressed levels and things to make them as obvious as possible at F22...

My heart rate is just setlling back down now after putting the mirror back down etc...

I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can damage the shutter curtain if you dont do this with the AC Adapter and the battery runs out (or when the mirror returns when you turn the camera back on - cant remember which).

Is this true, or just one of those rubbish stories that people use to stop you cleaning the sensor??

How long (time) do you think you need to clean the CCD? 2 min.? 15 min? 1/2 hrs? 3 Hrs?
The full charged battery last you hours on this mode and we have done many times on this, so???????

These are probably dumb questions from a newbie but what is 'Eclipse Fluid' ? Where can you obtain it from? Being a first time owner of a DSLR (D70s) it all seems to be a whole new ball game after using film.

You can have it for free if you make yourself available at the mini meet with your own container, 100ml/ member.

The Eclipse fluid is $26.00/ 100ml and it's pure methanol same as we have for member

so with the sensor wipes did you use a homemade stick or something to help.

Good on you Mudda.

After finding a good number of dustbunnies living in my camera I bit the bullet and purchased a rocket and some pecpads from Birdy, and handed over a little bottle to be filled with menthol.

I now just need to work out how the do my own spatula thingy......and then hope to hand it all over to Matt at a mini meet and watch him do it! I so do not want to do this myself...
