Yep.... I know it's not a good photo per se, but I quite liked the perspective of the tree being (ie looking) taller than the lighthouse.... and this is the photo that prompted me to get into photography more seriously and buy a dSLR... so it has some meaning for me....

Guess I'd better answer my own question. Mine is a shot I took while sailing off Sydney on the tall ship Svanen. The pic is of another tall ship - the Bounty. On the same day member ChristianD was also present and I believe his avatar is of the same ship.
Piro. Guessed you didn't take that pic, but it raises the question - is it your x-ray and Homer just stole it from you

A brain the size of a planet and you're asking me if I took this photo myself?
You know, had that hyperspace bypass been built, you wouldn't have to ask me this and I wouldn't have to tell you that the towel is mine.

Yes, nearly all my past avatars have been taken by me, and I like to change it alot - acting out my multiple personality disorder.
My current one is of a sign outside Holland Tunnel, New Jersey side (it's the underground tunnel that leads into New York City/Manhattan Island). Taken with a <shock horror> Canon!

No. Old pic I found somewhere on the net and have used on websites and as an avatar on various forums for years, usually under the nick 'Hoppy'.

Yep. Mine's from a series of shots I took around the University of Queensland.
Like Onyx, I change mine every now and then (usually when I get sick of looking at the same thing).

I think it's only right that on a photography board we use our own photos! I've just updated my one to my entry in Challenge 5.

NO.
My wife wouldn't let me buy another D70 to take a photo of my D70, so I had to go searching the net.
In my mind, my avatar symbolises that with the D70, the sky is the limit !
One day I can hopefully change this pic to a D2X

Mine is a shot I took while on a motorcycling tour of the South Island of New Zealand. I was after the classic winding road into the distance shot.
Pre-D70, used a Sony Cybershot.

The interesting question is what the avatar represents of you, or your reason for its choice. I remember MattK making a similar comment early in the forum history. Yes I did take this shot. (also pre D70 so I will have to update it). To me the role of the Kingfisher is partly observer (hence his spot on the 'post') but also he takes this position to selectively feed on what goes on around him. Finally, there are a lot of these around my area (Sunshine Coast) and we have watched the one in the photo used as my avatar grow up and establish a relationship with us by the contribution of his presence. He even has a mate now that he brings around to us each afternoon. So there you have it, observer, feeder and contributor.

Yes I took mine of Wollongong Old Lighthouse. Problem was me not being a compu guru I spent most of my time trying to shrink it and I think I shrank it too much. A bit too pixelly for my liking. Mind you lighthouses are quite popular.
I like being an individual like everyone else.
