Nikon Capture - is it really just a Raw Convertor???

An interesting review of Nikon Capture...

I don't use NC, but I found the review very interesting...

I tend to agree, a very interesting read, I do not use NC but after the read it might be worth a look.........

I've only known/used Capture since version 4, and even in this short space of time it has evolved and Nikon has added quite a number of features to it.

Off the top of my head, there's the inclusion of noise reduction, focus area indicator, red-eye reduction, shadows/highlights aka D-Lighting and ability to corect tilted images.... all features overlapping the abilities of photoshop or other programs however, without quite going all the way that we can do without PS completely, so I'm not entirely sure what they're aiming for.

It can be used as a PS substitute. Peter, whose images always have nice PP are usually entirely done in NC

I use NC with the Nik Color Efex plugins for NC (as opposed to the PS CS version) for about 90% of my PP. I find it faster than PS. Only time I go near PS is if I need to do local editing (dust bunnies and the like) or layering. The image below (click for larger) was done entirely in NC and has had LOTS of PP:
